Heating, ventilation and cooling installations can be automated by means of modern building management systems. The purpose is to increase the economic efficiency of the ?intelligent building? as all connected components are operated with the highest efficiency possible. Pumps and pump systems can also be integrated into the building automation. Thereby the operating safety is increased additionally because the pump?s current operating condition is transferred to the control room. This is how deviations of predetermined setpoints or faults, which can probably occur, can be detected and removed as quickly as possible.The Wilo-IF-Modules PLR are coordinated to different bus systems, interfaces and protocols like to the RS485 bus and modbus. The connection with the building automation is established via the bus-compatible, digital (RS 485) interface converters DigiCon and DigiCon Modbus.
With the Wilo-IF-Module LON the pumps can be smoothly integrated into manufacturer-neutral, open LONWORKS? networks. This is a system surrounding which enables an interdisciplinary communication between the individual components as well as with the automation level.
Both types of modules can receive and execute commands from the control room. In return electrical and hydraulic pump data can be transmitted to the statistical processing and fault and operating signals can be sent to a superior place. In addition, the Wilo-IF-Module LON offers the advantage that it can be directly integrated into building management systems of different manufacturers. Furthermore data can be exchanged directly between the module and the sensors, valves or control devices of a heat generator. Thus it is able to take certain control tasks from a decentralised position, directly and without passing the central computer.
The dual pump management integrated in electronic pumps, which is automatically activated by the connection of the master and the slave pump, is delivered together with the IF-Modules PLR and LON. For this an additional terminal is available in the IF-Module through which the two individual pumps operated in parallel or also a double pump communicate with each other. Depending on the existing bus system, both pumps are equipped with Wilo-IF-Modules PLR or one with the LON-Module (master) and one with the PLR-Module (slave). With both variants all functions of the dual pump management system can be carried out. They comprehend the efficiency-optimised base load and peak load switch and the main and standby operation. In both operating types, after a 24-hour operation of the pump, it is switched over between the main and standby pump or between the base load and peak load pump. This is how also through a longer period of time an equal utilised capacity of both pumps is achieved. By automatically switching over a pump supply safety is guaranteed also in the case of faults. For indicating this fault all Wilo electronic pumps are equipped with a potential-free fault signal terminal (SSM) as standard.
