VLX 28/28-17 Panel Baseboard Radiator 15810 BTU - 11.5" x 204"
Runtal invented the flat panel radiator in Switzerland in the 1950's and it was introduced in America in 1985 as the flagship of their towel radiator line. The design maximizes surface area and radiant heat output. The Runtal Omnipanel is available in six electric and 25 hydronic models with heat outputs up to 7920 BTUH. Plug-in and direct wire models are offered with an off/lo/med/hi temperature control. Also offered is a hardwire model (without controls) for areas where controls on the unit are not allowed by the code such as near a jetted-tub. Both bottom and rear piping are offered on hydronic models. Omnipanels are finished with powder coat enamel and several sizes are also offered in chrome.
Runtal's baseboard (made to order) is available in 1 to 4 tube heights. It may be manufactured in lengths from 20 inches to 29-1/2 feet long in increments of 2 inches. Ten standard colors as well as an array of designer colors are available. Runtal's baseboard style is perfect for situations where sheet metal-covered fin-tube or cast iron is being replaced. In these cases, it is often easiest to use the existing piping and simply order the appropriate lengths.
Runtal’s Baseboard style is ideal for those desiring a low profi le. As a retrofi t, Runtal baseboard is a natural replacement for fi n-tube or cast iron. In these cases, it is often easiest to use the existing piping and simply order the appropriate lengths. Depending upon the heat output, or the desired design “look”, Runtal will supply baseboard styles ranging from 1 to 4 tubes high.
How to Select the Right Runtal Radiator for Your Space?
To size the radiators, it is necessary to calculate a house's heat requirement. This calculation, measured in BTU/Hour, should be done on a room-by-room basis. Either a heating contractor or a qualified plumber can do this; however, here is the rule of thumb for regions of the country;
- New England, Upper Midwest, or Southern Ontario: 40 BTUH per square foot of floor area
- New York City to Philadelphia: 40 BTUH
- Philadelphia to Washington, DC: 35 BTUH
- Seattle to Portland: 25 BTUH

Runtal, because your family deserves to be comfortable and healthy the year round.
Runtal Radiators are made to operate as part of a closed-loop, forced-hot-water (hydronic) heating system. The radiators heat by circulating hot water from a boiler through the hollow, flat tubes. The boiler typically operates from either home heating oil, natural gas, or LPG propane. Radiators are not made to connect to the domestic hot-water (tap water) system.
Mounting and Piping
The mounting system is identical on all 5 heights. Each radiator may be piped eight different ways. This should allow for the most efficient and most attractive installation.
